It\u2019s interface makes it very easy to manage your files. In the resulting pop-up menu, click on \u2018New Project\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2786\" src=\"https:\/\/vividreal.co.in\/vividreal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2-1024x445.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"262\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>3) Assign the project name and location and click create.<\/p>\n<p>4) Navigate to \u2018Marketplace\u2019 on the left side menu of the Google Cloud Platform dashboard.<\/p>\n<p>5) Now find and select \u2018WordPress\u2019 from the list.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2787\" src=\"https:\/\/vividreal.co.in\/vividreal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/IMG_17072018_151651_0-1024x483.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"285\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>6) Click \u2018Launch on compute engine\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2788\" src=\"https:\/\/vividreal.co.in\/vividreal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/3-1024x513.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"303\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>7) Then fill in the WordPress deployment form and click on \u2018Deploy WordPress\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>8) Now you\u2019ll be directed to the deployment information screen.<\/p>\n<p>9) Click on the External IP address under \u2018WordPress Server\u2019 section.<\/p>\n<p>10) Then tick both \u2018Allow HTTP Traffic\u2019 and \u2018Allow HTTPS\u2019 Traffic and click apply.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">11) Now enter the IP Address into your browser URL and you\u2019ll be directed to your WordPress site.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><b>Setting up FileZilla<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Note that you won\u2019t be able to edit the files in your web server if you don\u2019t have root access to it. Gaining root access is easy &#8211; <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the Google Cloud Platform dashboard, navigate to \u2018Compute Engine\u2019 and then \u2018VM instances\u2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Under the \u2018Connect\u2019 tab, click on \u2018SSH\u2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now the SSH terminal will appear.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2789\" src=\"https:\/\/vividreal.co.in\/vividreal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/4-1024x452.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"267\" \/><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enter the following command to the terminal : <\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #993300;\">sudo &lt;command&gt;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now you will be assigned root privileges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To give read\/write permission (777 Permission) \u00a0to your installation folder, enter the following command to the terminal:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #993300;\">sudo chown -R &lt;username&gt;:&lt;username&gt; .* <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1) Specify the -C flag to add a comment with your username.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ssh-keygen -t rsa -f ~<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\/.ssh\/<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[KEY_FILENAME] -C [USERNAME]<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">where:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[KEY_FILENAME] is the name that you want to use for your SSH key files. For example, a filename of my-ssh-key generates a private key file named my-ssh-key and a public key file named my-ssh-key.pub.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[USERNAME] is the user for whom you will apply this SSH key.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This command generates a private SSH key file and a matching public SSH key with the following structure: <em><span style=\"color: #993300;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #993300;\">ssh-rsa [KEY_VALUE] [USERNAME]<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">where:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[KEY_VALUE] is the key value that you generated.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[USERNAME] is the user that this key applies to.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a02) This command restricts access to your private key so that only you can read it and nobody can write to it:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">chmod <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">400<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> ~<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\/.ssh\/<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[KEY_FILENAME]<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">where [KEY_FILENAME] is the name that you used for your SSH key files.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3) Now, in FileZilla, click on \u201cQuick connect\u201d and select \u201cSTFP\u201d as the protocol.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2790\" src=\"https:\/\/vividreal.co.in\/vividreal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/IMG_17072018_134728_0-1024x509.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"300\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4) Set the host IP Address.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5) Select \u201cKey file\u201d as logon type and enter the username.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6) Now select browse to locate the key file and then select the previously generated key<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7) Now click \u201cconnect\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><b>Installing WHM &amp; cPanel <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1) In Google Cloud Platform, create a new project with name and location<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2792\" src=\"https:\/\/vividreal.co.in\/vividreal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/IMG_17072018_115308_0-1024x223.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"132\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a02) Navigate to the Compute Engine section and select VM instances.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a03) Select the project you created.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2793\" src=\"https:\/\/vividreal.co.in\/vividreal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/IMG_17072018_115317_0-1024x489.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"288\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4) Now create an instance, specifying the appropriate region and zone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2794\" src=\"https:\/\/vividreal.co.in\/vividreal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/IMG_17072018_115434_0-1024x490.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"289\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a05) Select \u201c<\/span><b>CentOS 7<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d as the boot disk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2795\" src=\"https:\/\/vividreal.co.in\/vividreal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/IMG_17072018_115451_0-1024x515.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"304\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6) Specify the disk size and disk type. Then click create.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7) Navigate to \u2018Network Services\u2019 on the left side menu of \u00a0the GCP dashboard. Then select \u2018Cloud DNS\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2797\" src=\"https:\/\/vividreal.co.in\/vividreal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/5-2-1024x218.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"129\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a08) Now click \u2018Create zone\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a09) Configure the zone name, DNS name and DNSSEC and click \u2018create\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10) In the \u2018VM instances\u2019 section under \u00a0\u2018Compute Engine\u2019 on the GCP dashboard, find the instance you wish to connect to and click on \u201dSSH\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-2798\" src=\"https:\/\/vividreal.co.in\/vividreal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/IMG_17072018_134517_0-1024x364.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"604\" height=\"215\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">11) Now the SSH terminal window will appear. Run the following scripts in order :<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #993300;\">\u00a0Yum update yum install perl<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #993300;\">Yum install wget<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"color: #993300;\">\u00a0Hostname [YOUR DOMAIN ADDRESS]<\/span> <\/em>\u00a0<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\/\/ Enter the domain address you want your site to point to in place of \u00a0[Your DOMAIN ADDRESS]<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"color: #993300;\">\u00a0systemctl stop NetworkManager.service<\/span><\/em> \u00a0<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\/\/ To stop Network Manager<\/span><\/li>\n<li><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #993300;\">\u00a0systemctl disable NetworkManager.service <\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #993300;\">\u00a0cd \/home<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"color: #993300;\">\u00a0curl \u2013o latest \u2013L<\/span><\/em><\/span><em><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><a style=\"color: #993300;\" href=\"https:\/\/securedownloads.cpanel.net\/latest\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/securedownloads.cpanel.net\/latest<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em><span style=\"color: #993300;\">\u00a0sh latest \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/em>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now the External IP address will be displayed on the terminal<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">12) To set firewall rule port configuration for WHM do the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Navigate to VPC network at the left side menu of GCP dashboard<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on \u2018Firewall rules\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click &#8216;Create firewall&#8217;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Set IP Address as &#8216;0.0.0.0\/0&#8217;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assign port \u20182086\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click &#8216;create&#8217;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Follow the above steps again and assign port \u20182087\u2019.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">13) To set firewall rule port configuration for cPanel do the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Navigate to VPC network at the left side menu of GCP dashboard<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click on \u2018Firewall rules\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click &#8216;Create firewall&#8217;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Set IP Address as &#8216;0.0.0.0\/0&#8217;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Assign port \u20182082\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click &#8216;create&#8217;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Follow the above steps again and assign port \u20182083\u2019.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">14) Now you need to update the root password<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go to the SSH terminal and run the following script<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">passwd <\/span><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Enter the new password.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">15) Click on the External IP Address displayed on the terminal. You will be redirected to WHM.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then l<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ogin with the username \u201cRoot\u201d and the password you set.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now you can proceed to configure your server.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #00ccff;\"><b>In a nutshell<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Choosing between installing cPanel or using FileZilla to manage the files in your web server comes down to your preference and budget. If you\u2019ll have to edit the files for any reason, going for the cPanel installation before deploying WordPress would be a better idea. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Points to note: <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You need <\/span><b>root <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">access to manage your files via FileZilla. Without the access you will not be able to make any edits to the files. This is not needed if you\u2019re using cPanel. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 2.\u00a0 Always set \u2018<\/span><b>CentOS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019 as the boot disk while installing cPanel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 3. While setting up a VM instance on Google Cloud Platform, you are required to specify a region( a geographical location where you can run your resources) and a zone (an isolated location within the region).
